DJ'S

Jon Dasilva

Mercurial DJ/ Producer, Jon Dasilva was co conspirator in defining the music policy of The Hacienda during acid house era and was slap bang at the centre of the early days of UK House/Techno music. From these auspicious beginnings he has always been regarded as an adventurous DJ, a view aided in no small part by his mixing expertise and programming skills. His wide musical tastes and ability to work these genres into proper dance floor action marks him out as specialist deck-master, taking his cues from the legends that inspired him, the likes of Francois Kevorkian and Ron Hardy. Considered an influence on a whole generation of DJ's from Balearic Legend, DJ Moonboots to the ubiquitous star, Sasha, Jon has nevertheless retained a freshness of approach as displayed in his recent mixes where his penchant for the varied shades of techno and house as well as his keen nose for sniffing out cutting edge modern producers have been so clearly evident. Retaining the anything goes spirit and ideals of Acid House; Jon’s open-minded sensibilities have been sharpened by his involvement with a number of band projects including his own band The Virgo Mechanically Replayed, whose album, "Factory Fatigue",was released on Hacienda Recordings in November (http://www.fac51thehacienda.com/node/2846). Jon has released a stream of recordings and remixes over the last 20 years or more for labels such as Soma, Deconstruction, Rob's Records, Cleveland City, Mute, Rush Hour Get Physical and Ellum...with up and coming releases on the adorable Kindisch label as Hallo Halo...

Phil Urry

Phil began DJ'ing in 1993 after watching Allister Whitehead DJ and thinking to himself, "I can do that!". He pestered his mum to buy him some decks as he'd pissed all his money away on nights out. Two belt-drive Soundlabs and a Made-2-Fade mixer arrived in the post shortly after and Phil was up and running. Within a day or so he was knocking out mix-tapes for his mates to listen to and it wasn't long after this when he was snapped up by local pirate radio station Sweet FM. This led to numerous gigs in the Hull area and a few residencies in local bars. Phil decided to knock DJ'ing on the head around 1999 but still loved his music. Fast forward 6 years and Sweet FM made a comeback as an Internet Radio Station. Phil was asked to rejoin the team and this led to some Sweet FM nights at Zebra, Hull's finest late night drinkery... He was spotted by Paul Rawson from The Shine Boys and shortly after was asked to DJ at a Sexylectro night. Not long after this, The Shine Boys went down to 1 and Phil was asked to join Paul. This went on for a couple of years with the pair DJ'ing at clubs like DQ in Sheffield and Mission in Leeds before Phil hung up his headphones once again.

Phil also produces and remixes under the name 'phlurry' and has worked with the likes of Epicentre, Mono-Life, Carl Shawn and Angie Brown.
